The Highly Gifted and Talented Magnet at Cory

Cory is a magnet site for highly gifted children grades 1st-5th, students who have demonstrated extraordinary academic achievement or abilities and intellectual potential found in the top one percent of the national student population. These “identified” children are a part of the mix of students at Cory; they are not put in self-contained classrooms. Our “combined” classrooms are what make Cory unique and what makes our classrooms a wonderful mixture of learners.

Parents and teachers may nominate children for this program each fall and students are selected based on testing, achievement, teacher recommendations, identifiable characteristics and extraordinary abilities and accomplishments. Information about this process is available at the Cory office or the Denver Public Schools HGT office.

Every Cory teacher has been trained in highly gifted education. Our highly gifted program relies on the practice of differentiated instruction to meet individual learning requirements.
